The bittersweet waft of barbecue coals release a heady aroma of freshly grilled sardines. The sharp tang of olive oil follows, and a squeeze of lemon starts to sizzle.

Warm terracotta plates with painted patterns are artfully arranged over slubbed linen. Sprigs of waxy foliage and flower heads cast dappled shade across the table. Snippets of chitchat take to the breeze as delectable dishes are shared and savoured.
