Edge Landscapes

Little slices of abstract landscapes conjured out of playing with layers and layers of paint. They start life as panels to wipe off excess paint left on my brush before washing. Sitting next to other work in progress paintings, these small rectangular panels offer a moment to be free and playful with mark making. With no expectation or result in mind layers of paint build up on the surface and exciting textures emerge. When there’s enough information and history to work into I add and subtract more paint till suggestions of hazy landscapes emerge. The edges of each landscape are painted in a complementary colour to enhance the overall feel of the painting.
